We have come across another glitch in SUM3D. This glitch only happens in the earlier versions of SUM3D, so if you come across this, its a good idea to update your system.
The glitch is that when you start a new job and select your material, if you accidentally selected the wrong material and you want to change it in the machine file, it changes the offset.
Below is a machine file. You can change the material type by clicking on the material and changing it.
However, if you change the material this way, this can change the offset. The standard offset is 2.5 and sometimes it will change to 2.0, which can cause problems with your job.
In the picture below, this is what your units will look like. You can see a chewed up looking ring around the opening in the puck.
The safest thing to do if you need to change your material, and you have an older version of SUM3D, is to start over and select the correct material in the new job selection.
If you do change the material in the machine file and you want to check to see if the glitch has happened, click on the Change Offset Value button.
After clicking this button, left-click on the unit--this will make it turn white--then right-click. This will bring up a window that will tell you the offset for that unit.
If the glitch happened, the offset will be 2, and unfortunately you will have to start over and select the correct material in the beginning. If it says 2.6 you are good to continue on!
