I've taken photos of the equipment and supplies used for preparing units from the Projet 1200 for casting in dental applications. As per 3D Systems recommendation, please use R&R Plasticast Investment material (investment instructions are attached at the bottom of this article).
First, we will sprue the units onto a wax cone and place it on the investment cup base. Then the investment cup top is placed over the base. The investment cup is filled with the investment material. See attached PDF files from 3D Systems with further instructions on placement.
The wax is burned out in the burnout oven. For temperatures and burnout procedures, see recommended instructions, provided by 3D Systems for Plasticast Investment below. If you have any issues with the program suggested by 3D Systems, you may also try our custom burnout program below.
*HEAT RATE 1:* 10°F/min
*TEMP 1:* 470°F
*HOLD 1: * 60min for first 2-3 rings (+20min per additional ring)
*HEAT RATE 2:* 20°F/min
*TEMP 2:* 1475°F
*HOLD 2:* 60min for first 2-3 rings (+10min per additional ring)
The investment shell is put in the crucible, the metal is melted and then spun in the centrifugal casting apparatus.
