To be able to generate your CAM output locally, you have to assure that your site (this site is in the site list in the Dental System Control Panel) is set up as a manufacturer.
If you only want to produce your CAM output locally it is recommended to only set up yourself as a manufacturer. If you also want to send orders for remote manufacturing, you have the possibility to choose both yourself and a remote lab/milling center for manufacturing. Just remember to choose the right manufacturer when creating the order in the Dental Manager if you work with several manufacturers!
When a system is setup correctly to produce local CAM output, both STL and DCM, will be saved in a local directory. The lack of STL output usually is due to settings rather than system error. If your system is not set up properly to output locally you will only have DCM files generated locally.
Steps to set up local manufacturing in the Dental System
• Open the Dental System Control Panel and go to Sites:
• Once inside Site settings you will normally see a list of sites. The one marked as This site is your site. Make sure the Has CAM option is enabled:
• Save your changes.
Once the settings have been altered and you are set up as the local manufacturer the CAM files will be outputted automatically.
How to generate the CAM output if it is not done automatically:
Usually the CAM files will be outputted automatically when having set up your system to output locally. However in some cases (for example if you are sending files to other sites also) the files will not be outputted automatically. In these cases you can follow the steps below to generate the CAM files.
• Right click on the order and scroll down to the Advanced menu and select Generate CAM output, or simply press F7 on your keyboard.
• To view your output files press Shift + F4 on your keyboard, or select Explore CAM from the Advanced menu. This is where you can retrieve your STL files.
