In order to generate your CAM output locally, your site must be set up as a manufacturer (this site is in the site list in the Dental System Control Panel.
If you only want to produce your CAM output locally, it is recommended to only set up yourself as a manufacturer.
If you also want to send orders for remote manufacturing, you can choose both yourself and a remote lab/milling center for manufacturing. Just remember to choose the right manufacturer when creating the order in the Dental Manager if you work with several manufacturers!
When a system is setup correctly to produce local CAM output, both STL and DCM will be saved in a local directory. The lack of STL output usually is due to settings rather than system error. If your system is not set up properly to output locally, you will only have DCM files generated locally.
Setting up local manufacturing
- Open the Dental System Control Panel and go to Sites.
- You will see a list of sites. The one marked This Site is your site.
Make sure the Has CAM option is enabled.
- Save your changes.
Once the settings have been altered and you are set up as the local manufacturer, the CAM files will be outputted automatically.
Generating CAM output if it is not done automatically
Usually CAM files will be outputted automatically if your system is set up to output locally. However, in some cases--for example if you are also sending files to other sites--the files will not be outputted automatically.
In those cases, follow the steps below to generate the CAM files.
- Right-click on the order and scroll down to the Advanced menu and select Generate CAM output, or press F7 on your keyboard.
- To view your output files press Shift + F4, or select Explore CAM from the Advanced menu. This is where you can retrieve your STL files.
