This workflow assumes that you are using CAP Strategies and Millbox configurations
Initiate completing the nesting process by selecting the Start Mill menu or confirm the completion of the previous step of selecting the material.
Start Mill Menu Options
- Start Mill open menu button. Opens and closes menu.
- Save toolpath option - Only saves output file for mill to defined location
- Send to mill option - Sends calculated output file to mill for machines that support the function
- Partial execution option - Only shows up as an option to jobs already calculated. Enables user to be able select what operations to calculated to restart jobs.
After selecting either Save Toolpath or Send to Mill options, a series of menus will appear to finalize how you need the job to be calculated.
For disc changer mills with CAM driven holder selection: A pop-up will appear to confirm or inform the user what disc holder when the output file is loaded. This is for mills such as the Roland DWX52-DC. If you select a position for a new disc but cancel the job, the tool position will be saved and you will have to create a new disc. See more on disc changer selections details here.
Select strategy options for milling job to fine tune output. There are a few options that may appear depending on the selection of machine configuration, type select object, and/or material. These will add or remove operations to apply certain operations to be calculated in the final cnc file. The image below is an example and may not have the same options on your setup.
A tool table pop-up will display to inform you of the tools and position set of for the current calculation as a double check.
Partial milling selection options dialogue will pop-up to enable user to select which operations to start-up again. See more details here
Once the selections are completed, Millbox will generate the files needed to calculate the job. Currently, the first 5% of the progression of calculation encapsulates this file generation progress. The calculation starts when the STOP button appears. Pressing STOP will cancel the calculation.
When the calculation completes, a report will generate automatically or you can generate one in the Tools menu. This enables you save the job view for your records. It also can assist others workflows downstream to help manage the units in the disc after milling to communicate the unit name in the position it's placed.
The lightweight simulation will appear afterwards to highlight any residual material that removed by the operations to flag any potential issues in the job before milling.
If the material is new, you will be able to select any of the available disc numbers/letters for that machine. All the selectable option will have black text.
If the disc holder has been set, the selected position will be highlighted yellow and the other positions will be grayed out. You cannot change this value once it has been set.
